Diamond Dreams

Updated: Jul 23

Hi again! We were lucky to have Intan Impian join our trip; someone I’ve admired in every aspect of life. Truly an idol, on-screen and off. As usual, we checked in at Flora Bay Resort on Perhentian Besar. The island was quieter than expected, not many people around, which made it feel like our own little escape. That Friday evening, me and Kak Intan found ourselves wondering whether we should tag along with the boys on their so-called “mission.” We weren’t exactly sure what it was, but hey, it sounded better than sitting around doing nothing. So we followed them, half-curious, half-hopeful... mostly just vibing. In return for our adventurous spirit, we wished for a good, soul-filling dinner tonight. And honestly, I’m so proud of my husband — working hard, giving his all, helping them catch what could be our dinner under the stars. He looked so focused, like a sea hunter

That night — and the next — we gathered over plates of freshly cooked trevally, enough to feed all six of us. It wasn’t just a meal; it was the result of shared effort, patience, and the quiet bond that forms when people work together with intention. There was something grounding about eating what was caught with our own hands (or in my case, witnessing the hard work behind it).

Kudos to the team at Fauna Chalet’s restaurant for preparing the fish so beautifully. Each dish was rich with flavour, simple yet soulful — the kind of food that reminds you how nourishing a good meal can be when it’s made with care.

We sat together, reflecting on the day, feeling the warmth of the island night around us. The ocean just a short walk away, the stars watching silently above. Moments like these are rare — where time slows down and you’re reminded of what really matters: connection, gratitude, and being part of something a little bigger than yourself.

As we headed out for a full day of freediving in Redang. The sun rose quietly over the water, and with it, a sense of calm determination. We were ready. But one of the most unforgettable parts of the day was the adventure to Gua Kokan. The cave had its own quiet energy — mysterious, still, and powerful. Freediving through it felt like crossing a threshold between two worlds. Our boatmen were absolutely hilarious — full of jokes, quick wit, and the kind of carefree humour that made us feel instantly at ease. Just search perhentian snorkeling trip and you will find him.

Here's a video of Nabil cruising through the bus wreck near Redang:

If you are a longing for the sea, for stillness, for a little adventure — I hope you find your way to these islands one day. And if you ever plan a trip to Perhentian & Redang, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share more and help guide your journey. The ocean is waiting.
